Rope Access Technicians or Abseilers ?
What's the correct term – Abseilers or Rope Access Technicians?
Most people say abseilers, and in New Zealand that term is widely recognised. But in our industry, the correct term is Industrial Rope Access Technician. It's a more accurate way to describe the skillset and safety systems involved in this work.
The word abseiling actually comes from the German term abseilen — ab meaning “down” and seil meaning “rope.” Put the two together, and it literally means “to rope down.”
So while Kiwis might commonly refer to us as abseilers, at MB Property Services, we’re proud rope access technicians delivering professional work at height across Auckland and the rest of Aotearoa.
